With India’s 5G revolution set to take off this year, the much-anticipated 5G spectrum auction is set to take place later this year, and telecom giants Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel can be seen immersed in intensive 5G testing operations.

Reliance Jio Infocomm, the country’s largest telecom company, has been reported to be conducting 5G testing in several areas around the country. The good news is that Reliance Jio is working on a new 5G JioPhone, which is slated to be released later this year.

New JioPhone 5G?

According to an Android Central story, Jio has finished planning the rollout of 5G coverage and plans to do it in stages, beginning with 13 cities in the first phase.

According to the source, the 5G phone would be priced at about Rs 10,000 and will come with 5G contracts. This phone’s price strategy might be similar to that of its predecessor, the Reliance JioPhone Next, which was released in Diwali of 2021 and offered an upfront payment or an EMI option.

According to sources, the new Jio phone that supports 5G would be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 450 SoC, which is the company’s entry-level offering. As previously stated, the phone is expected to cost Rs 10,000, making it the cheapest 5G phone available. In 2021, India will get its most inexpensive 5G phone, which will cost roughly Rs 13,000, but the JioPhone 5G, which will cost (probably) Rs 10,000, will be the most affordable of them.

Jio’s 5G phone will compete with Redmi and Realme, two low-cost 5G phone brands. While the cheaper pricing of Rs 10,000 suggests low-end specifications, the source emphasizes that Jio is putting its money on hardware that is significantly superior to the JioPhone 5G.

The phone will apparently support the N3, N5, N28, N40, and N78 bands, indicating that it would function with India’s 5G networks.

According to the rumor, it will include 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, as well as a microSD card slot. It might include a 6.5-inch LCD with HD+ quality and Android 11 as its operating system. A 13MP primary camera and a 2MP auxiliary camera could be found on the back, with an 8MP selfie camera on the front. It might have a 5000mAh battery with 18W rapid charging through a USB-C connector. On the body, users might anticipate a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
